Shah Rukh Khan‘s latest blockbuster Jawan has released the extended version of its third song, Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya, which showcases the superstar in a double role as father and son, Azad and Vikram Rathore. The song is a peppy number that has SRK and Nayanthara grooving to the desi beats, with a twist of humour and action.

The title of the song, Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya, is a playful reference to the iconic phrase Ramaiya Vastavaiya, which was first used in Raj Kapoor’s film Shree 420. The phrase has an interesting backstory, as Raj Kapoor would often visit Khandala with his team of music composers during the making of Shree 420. Shanker, Jaikishan, Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri were in the team. One day, they met a local boy named Ramaiya, who became their friend and guide. They decided to dedicate a song to him, and thus Ramaiya Vastavaiya was born.

Jawan is a massive hit at the box office, breaking records worldwide
Jawan is an action thriller film directed by Atlee Kumar, in his Bollywood debut. It is produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies banner. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Priyamani, and Deepika Padukone (in a special appearance). The film follows SRK playing the dual roles of Azad and Vikram Rathore.
The film has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, and set to become the fastest Hindi movie to cross the Rs 800 mark globally. The film has also been praised for its strong female characters, played by Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Lehar Khan, Girija Oak and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya.

The event was attended by Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Atlee Kumar, Anirudh Ravichander and others. SRK expressed his gratitude to the team and the fans for their love and support. He said, “It’s a celebration. We rarely get a chance to live with a film for years. The making of Jawan has been going on for four years due to Covid and time constraints. There were a lot of people involved in this film, especially people from the South who came and settled in Mumbai and have been living in Mumbai for the last four years and working day and night for this film, which is the hardest work ever.”
